English artist Luke Jerram has an awesome idea for the city of Bristol, England. He wants to turn Park Street into a 90m (295 ft) long water slide.
In addition to simply making the city more fun, Jerram envisions the slide as a practical alternative form of free public transportation (downhill, at least) for a very hilly city. He calls it the Park and Slide Project and is currently seeking funding via a crowdfunding site called Spacehive. The Park Street water slide would be free to the public. If the project is fully funded, Luke and his team plan to have the urban water slide set up on May 4, 2014.
